Elder Sellers Update: From Training to Trainer

It's been too long since we've updated this blog so I thought I'd share a little bit from our favorite full-time missionary: Chad Evan Sellers.

In his letter this week he was excited to announce that he is now training, and no longer being trained. You can tell his Spanish must be getting better because his English is getting worse. He's also turning the give "2-0" on March 20 so it's his golden birthday. Our little "Chitterbug" is sure growing up fast.

L-R: Elder Hernandez (Chad's trainer), Elder Chad Sellers, and Elder Diaz (Chad's trainee)

L-R: Elder Diaz, Elder Sellers, Elder Gerratt, Elder Gerratt's new trainee (on a personal note, Elder Gerratt is cousins with Hermana Emily Gerratt (Jensen), my dear MTC companion, and she and I were both assigned to train new missionaries at the same time, just like my brother and her cousin.)

More Tanner-isms

In the 48 hours i have been home Tanner has had some pretty great moments...

  • Sunday morning laying on the kitchen floor next to a banana peel

Me: "Tanner get up why on you on the floor?"

Tanner: " I slipped!"

Tanner then proceeded to "try" to get up, only to keep "slipping" on his banana peel...

  • After going a successful day of not wetting his pants, Tanner came to the kitchen asking for ice cream...

Dad: "Do you want ice cream because you went potty in the bathroom today?"

Tanner: "yeaaaaaaah!"

Dad: "Ok that sounds good because I am so proud of you!"

Tanner: makes his way around the kitchen hugging each person in the room and saying "Megan, you are so proud of YOU!! Dylan, you are so proud of you!..."

  • I went to open the door to my 'room' in moms office and instantly ran into Emma Russell Hammers (visiting) dog Pumba, who had been dressed by Tanner in many of my clothes including two of my bras...

I'm sure many more adventures are sure to follow soon...

Justin and Chelsea Expecting in JUNE

Add One More... And Baby Makes Four!

I've tried on two occasions to post photos from this past week and do a few blog posts. Apparently Blogger doesn't like to work with me at 8p.m. on a weekend. Anyone else having issues with posting photos??? Anyhoo - I thought I'd come out and say it-- we've got another addition on the way!

Due date appears to be June 30, 1 month after Justin graduates law school and a few weeks before the CA bar Exam. Jackson just turned one on Saturday and already going to be a big brother!

So pretty soon, when you spot Justin and I, we'll look like this...

Mission Pictures From Elder Sellers

Chad recently sent some pictures from his mission. He's been serving for over three months now -- hard to believe -- and is doing very well. He's immersed himself in the work and already loves the people, the language and especially, the food. (Lucky for him because the members feed him A LOT).

first time Chad performed a baptism (they are teaching a TON of people)

missionaries serving in his ward: Elder Luna, Elder Aguilar, Elder Sellers, and Elder Hernandez.

Meri Shares a Tanner Story

Short and sweet, but oh so funny (this comes from Meri's latest Facebook message):

"everytime tanner doesnt want to do something he lies down on the ground and says "i died". i wish i could do that hahahh"

Next time I don't want to do something at work maybe I''ll just "pull a Tanner."

Jackson and Christian are 9 months and 4 months, respectively - they sure are cute!

We are so happy for the Megan and Davey Guerrero - they just found out they are expecting a baby boy around January 31st! We couldn't be happier to have 3 Grand-BOYS.

Hasta Luego, Elder Sellers

Chad Evan Sellers enters the Mission Training Center (MTC) today. He'll be studying the gospel in Spanish as he prepares to teach the people of the Mexico Chihuahua Mission (learn a bit more about it here) about their Savior Jesus Christ and his Church, which has been restored to the earth once more.

We are so -- dare I say it -- PROUD of his decision to serve the Lord full-time for two years. We know he'll be blessed and that it will change his life for the better.

Check out Chad's mission "goals" from his blog post earlier this year. He's such a crack up. We will sure miss him.

(If anyone has a picture of Chad in a suit, now's the time to share it. I, for one, would like to see proof.)

Nos vemos, Elder Sellers! Cuidate!

Chad's First Impressions of Chihuahua, Mexico

By the way. Chihuahua mean "dry and sandy place." Pretty cool huh guys? Anyways... its not too too hot in the summer like New Mexico but the humidity reaches 50-80% during the summer. So I'll definitely be sweating alot from a hard days work, or a light days work all the same. On a lighter note, the amount of drug trafficking is extremely high in my mission field. I am going to convert conspiring men of the world.

Goals to accomplish during my mission:
1. Much more knowledge of the gospel.
2. Strong testimony..
3. Get fat.
4. Make lifelong friends.
5. Talk circles around Justin Gilbert with my complex vocabulary of Spanish lingo. (irony haha)
6. Look so tan I could be a native.
7. Convert at least 1 person to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

It is going to be an awesome mission if I make good use of my time there and maintain a positive outlook while I'm serving. I am going to need plenty of letters family! So don't slack off. I'm going to get committments before I leave from each and every one of you. Muhahahaha.... You know who you are. It should be pretty obvious if you can can read this blog. I love all of my family members and cannot wait to tell them about my experiences on my mission from Day 1! I have been given a ton of nicknames over my lifetime. These are all the ones I came up with on the spot.

Chad's Mission Call

Chad received his mission call on March 27. He will be serving in the Mexico Chihuahua Mission. He enters the Provo MTC on July 29.

Chad was super excited to receive his call and to learn he will be speaking espanol. Felicidades, Chad!!

P.S. No one guessed Chad might serve in Mexico. Andrew may be the closest guess because he said Texas. Anyone want to dispute that?

Guess Where Chad's Going on His Mission

Chad turned in his mission papers a few weeks back, along with this handsome picture of himself. We're all so excited for the decision he made to serve the Lord full-time in the mission field.

So now is your chance: Where do you think Chad will be called to serve? Cast your votes now. His mission call could arrive within the next week or two.
